The windmill in Nesebar is located on the narrow strip connecting the Old and New towns. Its base is built of stone, while the upper part is made of wood. It is an immovable cultural monument with the status of “Local Significance.” The windmill belongs to one of the two types of mills that were common in Nesebar during the 18th–20th centuries. It was built in the 19th century and remained in use until 1929, when it collapsed during a storm. In 1964, a restoration project was completed to reconstruct the windmill in its present form, using information from old photographs. In 2022, the windmill was restored again by the Municipality of Nesebar to make it accessible to visitors. Currently, it houses the exhibition “The Treasures of the Ancient Necropolis of Mesambria,” and the balcony offers impressive views of the old town.
